By now, your AC has been working its hardest for over three months. It鈥檚 not uncommon for it to need repair at this point, especially if your equipment is over seven years old, poorly maintained or improperly sized for your home's cooling needs. Some typical post season AC problems include:
- Poor air flow. This could be caused by something as simple as a dirty air filter, but it could also stem from a faulty or blocked blower fan, a leak or obstruction in your air duct, or a variety of other equipment failures. If you know how to change your filters and they haven鈥檛 been changed in a while, you might try that and see if it makes a difference. If that doesn鈥檛 resolve the problem鈥攐r if you don鈥檛 want the hassle of doing it yourself鈥攄on鈥檛 hesitate to call in an HVAC pro. We鈥檙e available to take your call 7 days a week at 866-399-2885!
- Air isn鈥檛 cooling. If your AC is on and air is moving, but the air isn鈥檛 cooling as it should be, you may have a refrigerant leak, a problem with your evaporator coils, a dirty or blocked compressor or a malfunction in your thermostat that鈥檚 causing it to run the fan (or even the heat) instead of the full AC.
- Equipment is making noises. Rattling, squeaking, ticking, clicking or a louder than usual hum should not be ignored. Depending on the sound, it could be the result of an obstruction in your equipment, a need for lubrication, a failing fan belt, a loose screw, a bent fan blade, electrical failures, or a problem with your blower motor, among other things. It鈥檚 best to get the issue diagnosed before it becomes an even bigger and more costly repair.
